Both Republicans and Democrats are guilty of this; Republicans invented this mess during their tenure of control and Democrats are very eager to keep it going. Both are wrong, and any congressman unwilling to identify his earmarks should be removed from office.

Yes most Congressman in both parties refused to identify their earmarks. Another example of the Republicans and Democrats being out of touch.

Are you kidding? They will brag about them sooner or later. That's what they're for. And the voters in their districts will love them for it. They'll hate the earmarks in everyone else's district, but they'll love their own. And that's why earmarks and pork are here to stay.

And why does it matter who asked for the earmark? All that matters is how they vote on it, and that's public record.

Let's change America one vote at a time. Last year I started a new personal policy. I vote against every incumbant. I review other candidates positions and choose someone else. This is how term limits will work in our country. Maybe these greedy career politicians will finally see the light if we start voting them out.

Politics is a business of favors, unfortunately.

If they were forced to disclose those favors, or better yet, denied access to providing them, then nothing would get done.

Perhaps that would be a good thing. I think the founding fathers had "slow change" in mind when they created this system.

Does anyone still think that career politicians care what we think anymore?
Republican or Democrat, who cares anymore? It's about the grease in the palm, that's what makes govt go around.

Doesn't matter anymore. Didn't you pay attention to that immigration bill or amnesty bill or whatever the heck they call it? Our elected officials only care about us when they are giving speeches to get elected.

I would love to know what I'm paying for-have it broken down (paychecks, property tax etc). Is there an easy way to find out?

Absolutely, our leaders who hide behind anonymity are not to be trusted. It is a shame. Elected officials should be held to strict accountability.
