I'm 13 and I'd really like to get an agent and start acting. I'm 13 and I live right outside Chicago. I DO NOT want to act in a Disney channel show! I'd like to be in a show kind of like degrassi.
Do you know of any good agencies or auditions going on in Chicago?

Check out the website for the TV actor's union AFTRA, or the film actor's union SAG. They have pages where they list agents. These agents are recognized by the union. It doesn't necessarily mean that they are the best, but they are not scams.
You will also need a good headshot, and the union site is a good place to start there, too. I am sure there are also local theatrical/acting groups in your area that might help.
i cannot emphasize enough the importance of doing your research before you invest your time and money into something that promises stardom. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You don't start out by getting an agent and going on the TV show of your choice. You start by getting training. Then when you are good enough to do it professionally you can start looking for an agent.

Go to Commercial Kids.com you will find a lot of agencies on that website.
