at such a young age you are going to have irregular periods. usually once a month. start tracking yours and you will see the pattern develop over time. when i was that age i would usually get severe cramping the day before.

Welcome to womanhood, my dear. CONGRATULATIONS! If you were close to me, I'd take you out for an ice cream sundae for your 'celebration' ...
You'll get 'blood' every month, and you'll need to wear 'pads' (they have sticky stuff so they stay in your undies) and change them at least once every 4 hours for about three to seven days each time. If you don't have pads, you may 'wad up' some TP to put into your panties, and go to any WOMAN to tell her you need 'help' getting the things you need and 'lessons' in how to use them. You'll 'get over this bleeding' when you are in your 50s or 60s ... the 'period' is your uterus 'shedding old blood' to replace it with new blood, so when you get pregnant, the 'baby' can have a 'fresh clean place to live' inside you. THE BLOOD IS OLD and you never 'needed it' in your body, so don't worry about that ... just 'throw it in the trash' (wrap the pad up well and put it into a piece of plastic or a small brown bag). You can bathe (water actually 'stops' the bleeding' for a few minutes) but don't try to go swimming until you are 'old enough' to use a tampon ... and tell the woman you trust that you'll need to see a dcotor to make sure everything is 'okay' down there ... it's NORMAL but the doctor still needs to see you and examine you now ... and you may ask him/her any quetons the woman can't answer.

be sure to wear a pad for at least a week--often times bleeding stops for an entire day only to start again and bleed for another day. Most periods last about 5-7 days, if longer and accompanied by massive cramps and mood swings, may need to see a doctor. You will most likely go 3-4 weeks before you start to have bleeding again. Each woman's cycle is different and many are irregular. If you don't feel comfortable talking to your mom (and my mom was worthless when it came to this-she thought I had apendicitis), talk to your friends and see if any of them have started. My best friend helped me more than my mom ever could have!

I see you've become a woman now.Congratulations are in order. Well it is suppose to last for 5-7 days.It differs for every one but on average that's how long it's suppose to last. Now every month about that same date it comes again. Again not every body's body is the same,so it may appear a day before or a date close enough. So watch out for the signs. You may want to ask your mom a little more about this.

You need to talk to mom (if no mom, find an aunt). You may be just beginning and it may get heavier and last for a week. On the other hand since you are just starting, you may have nothing but what you see for a while. Make sure you buy some pads and keep them on til the coast is clear.

Probably later today. go ahead and get a pad and be prepared to wear them for a couple of days.
Women's cycles run on a 28 day average( that means you will have a period every 28 days) but nothing is ever written in stone.
Make sure and tell your Mom- she can really help you out.

unfortunately being irregular when starting is the norm, the average period is 3 to 5 days and cycles are 28 days, but you can throw those stats out the window the first year or two but it's a general guide as your body develops!

Hi,

First of all, is there someone in your life you can talk to like your mom, sister, aunt? They should really be the ones to talk to you. They also can take you to the store and show you the different options you have when it comes to choices for pad/tampons etc. I know it may seem embarassing, but I think that is the best way for you to go.
