A friend of mine sat down in fresh cat urine, she did not know, and then she sat down on my couch! The smell is horrible! Is there a way to get the smell out for good?

Use a half and half mixture of vinegar and water. scrub real good, and blot dry. put a fan aimed at the cusion to dry. Allow to dry for a day. Sprinkle baking soda on and then vacuum. Do not put the baking soda on until the cushion is dry, it may leave a paste that will be hard to remove.

Cat urine is the worst thing you can deal with because it's oil based and sticks to stuff.
Where cat pee is concerned, vinegar is your friend.
Sprinkle baking soda on the spot. Rub it in with your fingers. Add more if desired (and personally, I would desire!)
Pour white vinegar on the spot. The stuff will bubble up and help push the pee above the surface of the upholstery, where you will be waiting with a towel to absorb it. Wipe the area well with the towel. Ground it in.
Repeat the process once ot twice.
The smell should be considerably better, if not gone. After the spot is dry, you will want to use a furniture or carpet cleaner to wash the baking soda spot off the couch.

Try OdorBan - my cat peed in my car and that was the only thing that helped. The amount you're talking about is negligible compared to my incident - so it should work OK.

Vinegar is likely your best bet.Straight vinegar.
There is a product in pet stores called"urine erase."You could use that if the vinegar doesn't work.
