We have a older GE fridge with the freezer on bottom. Last night we noticed our meats where starting to thaw and everything in our fridge was sweating. We turned it all the way up fridge and freezer. This model has letters for freezer and numbers for fridge. After we done that our meats quit thawing and the fridge got cooler. It nots real cold but its not hot anymore.

The unit may be low on refrigerant and this causes inefficient operation. It may now be at a refrigerant level where it does not have the ability to do the job.

There may be a dirt accumulation that prevents the unit from cooling itself. Cleaning under and behind it will help a lot.

However if the unit is over 15 years old, you will reduce energy consumption markedly with a replacement unit.

Time for a new fridge. The energy savings alone will probably pay for it in a year.
