how come i have no lid actuator in my laptop , i have a hp pavillion dv6000 laptop , and i couldn't find it , could someone please tell me where it is , and if there's none , how can the screen detect closing the lid and therefore switching itself off ??

no no, it works perfectly , i was just wondering how it works , the mechanism of closing itself when i close the lid , that's it :D

If there is no VISIBLE actuator, it does not mean there is not one hidden within the computer.

Most likely it is either built into the latch or integrated within the hinges.

The switch might be contained within the hinge of the screen.

Some laptops use a magnetic switch. Or the detector may be on the hinge where you can not see it.

u may need third party software to get it to actually shutdown .. but the settings for the lid are in the power setings under screensaver in display properties ...
