It's impossible for both parents to be gay

2007-07-05 07:10:33 · answer #1 · answered by Susie 6 · 2 4

It depends on what you mean by parents. Do you mean 2 moms or 2 dads who adopt or use a donor? Or do you mean if a gay man and a lesbian decide to have a baby together via artifical means? Because with the research they are doing on genetics, they suggest that the gene traits are heredity and therefore, I supposed there could be a heightened chance that if 2 gay people have a child together that the odds are higher of a child being gay. HOWEVER, that is not to say that the odds are likely the child will be gay, just higher than the average. For instance if the chance for the average child to be gay is 10%, maybe it might be more like 15% or 20% when one or both parents is gay.

I can't give you the percentage but I think the odds would be greater than the odds of normal father and mother parents.

It all about how the child been influenced by the environment, if the child were brought when guys were "together" in front of the child the child would think it normal therefor the odd would increase.

So basically the more the child is been influenced by that environment, the odds would be greater.

A child having both gay parents has as much chance to be gay as a child with both heterosexual parents.
Roughly 10% of the population is gay.
There has been many studies that conclude there is no correlation between having gay parents and a child being gay.

I believe homosexuality is a chioce, and that we aren't born with it, we choose our sexuality. Some choose to be gay/lezbian, some choose to be straight. I'm straight, but I could kiss a girl if I really wanted to.
But, also, the parents should educate the kid about both sexualities. If they only teach him about homo, then mostlikely the kid will be homosexual, but if they teach him about both, he's could go either way he feels like going.

I truly believe that how the child is raised and his personality is what's going to make him gay or straight. I don't really think the parents being gay have much to do with it. We ALL have a chance of being gay, but the majority of America has chosen to be straight. Nothin' wrong with being gay or anything, just sayin'. =)

I wouldn't think it would be any higher than if one of the parents were straight. first of all, being born gay doesn't appear to be passed down in genes, at lest not in a large percentage. Secondly, it's rather obvious that the environment a child is raised in is not a huge factor. If it was there would be no gay children of heterosexual marriages.

Note: Lawalred may indded be a doctor. If so I sure hope he isn't a medical doctor. It's frighteneing to think of a medical doctor with that low an intellect that makes statements and offers no supporting evidence.

My niece has a friend and her parents are both gay woman, she's 20 years old and she has a boy friend and I saw on 20/20 a couple years ago on that topic, a little boy had 2 gay dads and he turned out straight so I believe the odds of being gay are slim . I honestly don't think the person will turn out gay, maybe some cases but it all depends on the person of how they feel about their self and I have a cousin who is gay but he had straight parents so again, it all depends on the person.

Being gay is a personal thing. It totally depends form person to person. I dated a girl who's dad was gay and well... me being a guy and she being a girl... she was not gay at all. She also had a sister that wasn't gay. And also I have gay frieds who's parents are straigt... that means that if it was upto the parents, then their children would all be striaght, am I right? But their not, so I don't think the children who's got gay parents will be gay themselves. They will be if they'd like to. I think it will have some sort of influence, but not major enough that I would consider it. My guess would be between 0 to 25%.

None. Gay is not something that's genetic. My Grandfather was gay, my ex wife turned gay after 10 years of marriage and 2 kids. My boys have 0 chance of being gay, as I raised them with a health self esteem.

There is no proof that being gay is genetic. People who say this just don't want to take personal responsibility for their actions.

"Claims that the part of the brain known as the hypothalamus is influential in determining sexual orientation, have yet to be substantiated. At the moment it is generally thought that biological explanations of sexuality are insufficient to explain the diversity of human sexuality."

In other words, there is no evidence to show any genetic component of one's sexual behavior.

I have never heard of a child being born to gay parents. They would most likely adopt a child. Sorry, don't know what the odds of a child raised by gay parents also being gay.

I am gay and I came from two happily married straight parents. It is not like the gay gene travels on only gay people, just like you can be a carrier for blue eyes and yourself have brown. Genetics is far more complicated than that-
