Kasey Keller?

Question

I heard on FSR (Fox Soccer Report), that if Keller doesn't find a team in the next 4-6 weeks he is largely considering retirement.

A few questions...

1) Can anybody confirm ths with a source, and include the link in the answer...

2) If this is true, how do you you think this would effect US Team as a whole...

3) If he finds a club, which leagues do you think it may be in, and mabye even take a guess at which team?

Thanks in advance, and when I heard that his last international may be the US's Copa America final vs. Columbia, which made me want to confirm this!

Sounds about right. At this point I don't see him catching on anywhere on a top flight team so he would be reduced to a lower level team.


2) If this is true, how do you you think this would effect US Team as a whole...

Not at all. During the last two tournaments it has become clear that Keller is no longer capable of playing at the international level. At one point he was in the top 10 in the world possibly but that time has come and gone.

3) If he finds a club, which leagues do you think it may be in, and mabye even take a guess at which team?

He has all but said he was not interested in MLS so that would leave maybe a 2nd division team in Europe or lower. Sorry but the guy is what he once was.

If you do a news search under his name, you will find numerous retirement articles (below is one).

He hasn't stated what the right opportunity is, just that he has several offers on the table. I believe he wants to play in MLS so his family can return to the USA, but he wants to be fairly compensated. MLS teams are historically cheap with their goalkeepers, so I'm not sure if there's a team who's willing to pay good money to Kasey Keller.

Otherwise, he wants to play in a first-tier club, like the EPL or La Liga. He probably hasn't gotten an offer from those leagues so that's why he's mulling retirement.

It will have little effect on the US team. Bob Bradley has already announced that Tim Howard is the primary GK. He's just not participating in Copa America so his backup Keller is playing instead. The US team always has a good lineup of GK's... It's just the other positions they lack quality and depth in.

Well Keller should wait 4-6 days to retire because he sucks. He's so over-rated. The US will never win games with him protecting the net.

That piece of crap old man shouldve retired a long time ago!! seriously he couldnt stop a Shot if it was the size of a Beach ball. Kasey keller looks like he belongs in a retirement home, i hate kasey keller, everytime we put that piece of Crap in, he gets scored on like 3 or more occasions, evertytime he tries to go for a dive im afraid he is going to break his hip!! the only team he should play for is the the Retirement home's!! tim Howard is our Future!!
