I know there are tons of good ideas, but heres the catch, I am looking for something cheap. I am looking to spend around 50 bucks. Its a work event so I really dont feel like going all out and spending a lot of money.
My description (if it helps) is: Mexican, 6 ft tall 215 lbs, dark hair, tan skin, solid-ish built... lol

I think Michael Jackson would be great for an 80's costume. You could just roll up your jeans and get some black and white shoes and add cheap glitter to them. Wear a white glove on one hand. Get a cheap hat at a dollar store and add glitter to that, too. At a craft store, you can find cheap sequins/glitter that you can add to clothing and the hat/shoes. Get a black jacket and decorate with glitter/sequins. The added touch would be an oxygen mask (you could probably get one cheap/free from a doctor's office or hospital) and a stuffed babboon you could carry around. Every once in a while touch your crotch. It will be a hit. My cousin did this 2 years ago for Halloween and everyone loved it. It was also an 80's party. You can definitely pull that off for under $50. The stuffed gorilla/babboon/whatever would probably be the most expensive aspect of the costume. Check with anyone with kids that you know, they may have one you can borrow.
I think some of the people who are answering have their decades confused. A lot of them are giving suggestions of people from the 70's, not the 80's.

Zoro..the sex appeal would be overwhelming..Black shirt & pants, hat and a cape. Don't forget the sword with a red silk rose for inbetween the teeth.Watch the movie for other details.

Go as Boy George....it would be a hoot!
Go to a thrift store. Buy a sun hat, frilly, cheap clothes.
Get into your mother's makeup. Eyeliner, lip stick, eyeshadow up to the brows..Cheaper yet.
Attach thick strans of fake hair to the sun hat. Long fake hair can be found at the dollar store.
Take flour and powder your face white.
Go up to people and ask "Do you really want to hurt me"?

you could be like a prom date from hell. you could buy some fake blood and do ur hair in a mullet or some 80's thing. and stick a knife through ur chest and stuff like that. you can find and old suit or tux in a good will or pawn shop or somthin like that if u need it. good luck!
