Why? I want a phone that will LAST and a plan that isn't too expensive.

Well, it depends on what you like. At this point, both phones will last a good amount of time, depending on how well you treat them. The Blackberry line has new phones coming out almost every year, maybe bi-yearly at the most. But with a Sidekick, you don't really get that.

If you are like me, you'd like a Sidekick. I tend to want to just hang around with friends, and be able to have all of my contacts and buds within easy access. I'm not looking for anything business class, just a chic messaging phone.

If you are like my neighbor, you have it all under control. He is a business man, he works hard and knows it. He has a Blackberry, so he can have push-email, and all those things he wants as accessories for keeping in touch with business associates.

So if one of those fits your personality, then you have a match. If you want a phone that is inbetween, but isn't geek-cenric, I suggest a Windows Mobile phone. It takes a little bit of time to learn the system, but it is a pretty nice one. My favorite choice for a Windows Mobile phone is a T-Mobile Dash or a Cingular 8525. Treo's are a bit more like Palm Pilots, but then again, most of these selections ARE pda devices.

I love my Treo, it does everything. You can get an unlocked Treo on eBay, and then get a free phone and a cheap plan wherever you want. Sorry, you ditch the free phone and use your Treo on the cheap plan. That's what I did.
