We all know about Marc Rich, but Clinton pardoned a lot of people that we just don't know much about. What were they sentenced to, and what were the crimes of most of these pardons and commutes?

Most of these guys were in jail long enough. Some of these people were not really guilty. One girl that he pardoned was in there because her boyfriend planted his dope on her and she took the fall. Whether she knew or not she was in there long enough.

Not quite like Oliver North or Scooter Libby crimes. Clinton really did some of these people justice. I think on the WHOLE these pardons were good. I saw some of the documentaries on these pardons.

Now some of them were not so good. He snuck a couple of creeps in there on us but it is not like they were O North.

Sorry, terrorists are traitors, so was Marc Rich, who was illegally trading oil leases for terrorist nations that were not allowed to sell their oil.

But that is all beside the point. The truth is that EVERY President, going back farther than Clinton, Bush I, Reagan, and back to George Washington, has pardoned a list of people as they leave office. It is obviously an open door to corruption, but it is an executive privelege that the President has always had.

So everyone can just get over this. If you think choosing either party is going to be more "honest" in this regard, you are kidding yourself.

Most pardons are for people who have served time already for the crimes they committed . If you look at the pardons you will find that the people given them have served time already or where convicted falsely .
SOme pardons go back to crimes committed in the 50's and 60's that Clinton pardoned . Long after these people had spent time in jail and moved on with their lives .

Never be so quick to judge till you investigate the pardon and the individual granted one .

I don't think it's fair to simply look at the crime that the person was accused of. I'm sure that the president had a reason to pardon them. Perhaps they did something worthy of being pardoned after they were in jail, like working with inner city kids in a "scared straight" sort of program.

My favorite was pardoning the 16 Puerto Rican terrorists to get the Puerto Rican vote. That one or his brother the coke distributor....that was good too.
