I was in a local, independantly owned coffeehouse recently, one which is frequented by the hipsters and college kids of the town, and saw a guy there with his young daughter. He had brought along his laptop and seemed to be trying to do some work. Of course, the child was bored and was trying to "get into" everything. The guy seemed annoyed with her for ruining his quiet time. What did he think, that she would sit down with a latte and read the New York Times? I think that he was putting in his designated "child care" time and just didn't have a clue as to an appropriate place to take her.
