I was looking at the IMDB top 250 movies and the overwhelming majority do not have a female as the protagonist. I know there are a few, but why is it that the movies we all love don't have women in the lead role?

Because most writers, producers, and movie executives are men. Many men are intimidated by strong women and characters that portray strong women. They certainly don't want to make a movie about them.

it is type of of a stereotype yet, movie manufacturers. writers and directors experience we the objective audience will have self belief a woman being in a extra vulneralbe place than we'd have self belief a guy might. you don't desire a juiced up jock as your protagonist on account which you will anticipate he'd have the skill to deal with the region (i.e. beat the crap out of the slasher, etc.) Having a woman working for her existence is so lots extra scarier on account which you ought to have self belief that the killer ought to do her extra harm.
