My husband and I really like the name but hardly any body else in the family does we think it is really pretty, its is our child we should be able to name it what we want, right,
We will call it Kashmir but those who dont like the name can call it Kassy
Kashmir not cashmere if from our fav Led Zeplin song we are both fans
Rose is from Dr Who a tv series that most poople probably dont watch, but we both love it
and onle last thing we want a different uncommon name that no one else has I dont like popular common names I want something origonal

I think it is really cute very unique do not give in to your family this is your child and you name her what you and your husband like I think it is a wonderful name congrats and good luck !!!when I say the name it makes me think of something beautiul ,your child will be beautiful with a name to match !!!

It just sounds (and looks) like a boys name to me. Remember even though you are big fans this girl will have to live with it her whole life. When she grows up, will many people take her seriously with "Kashmir ___" on a business card? It kind of sounds like a rappers name. Why not find a girl but unique name and make Kashmir her middle name? How about Rose Kashmir? Rose is hardly used anymore, at least around here.
It is your decision though. If you think it will suite her and be a good fit for her use it. :)

I LOVE IT! I had to say it a few times but the more I did, the more I like it. It IS very pretty. You are so right about the families opinions. That is all it is. You guys DO get to chose. How many more times in life will you have such a personal and lasting decision to make? I love that she will be named for characters you love. You guys are so awesome. You love it and THAT is what is important. You are the ones who will have to say it and spell it over and over and over. Just try not to even talk about the name with people who criticize.

I love the name. I had a friend who was 97 when she passed away with that name but spelled Casmira pronounce the same though. It is a totally cool name.

Don't let outside family influence you too much. She is your child! I like unique names too. It's not that hard to spell or pronounce. Of course, it has to be your decision together, but I think it's beautiful

i hate the name is the name for a boy. my friends brother's name is kashmir and he is a boy. your family is right that name is not pretty @ all. u shouldn't name your baby after your favorite things. name it something that will sound good in the future. think of the name. say to yourself will it sound good for a baby, a teenager and a senior. @ least the name rose is pretty. but change it to rosa. u should name her rosa as her first naem that name is not common.

I agree with your family, but it is ultimately your decision.
Have you thought about asking your parents what their favorite things were growing up? Would you like to be named after those items/bands?
