I've asked about pointless fights and the like, and it appears men are supposed to listen better. With my ex-wife, I did listen very well; I'm a great listener in general. What I had a problem with was hypocritical accusations, like "The way you ask to go out with your friends is uncaring," or "I thought we were going to have a day off together." She was much more uncaring than me when she would tell me that she's going out with her friends or when she was called into work. There were numerous scenarios like this, and I couldn't help but speak up and tell her she's being a hypocrite. I see this as a very common thread between men and women, and I don't see how listening better to hypocritical and/or pointless accusations is helpful. Is it just that I was with a particularly hypocritical woman or what?

Yes, PMS tends to mess with integrity for a lot of women.
