I've asked about pointless fights and the like, and it appears men are supposed to listen better. With my ex-wife, I did listen very well; I'm a great listener in general. What I had a problem with was hypocritical accusations, like "The way you ask to go out with your friends is uncaring," or "I thought we were going to have a day off together." She was much more uncaring than me when she would tell me that she's going out with her friends or when she was called into work. There were numerous scenarios like this, and I couldn't help but speak up and tell her she's being a hypocrite. I see this as a very common thread between men and women, and I don't see how listening better to hypocritical and/or pointless accusations is helpful. Is it just that I was with a particularly hypocritical woman or what?

Yes, PMS tends to mess with integrity for a lot of women.

Some women just like to nag you about everything. As far as you asking to go out with your friends in an uncaring fasion...she needs to get a grip. Some women just like to listen to themselves bi+ch and have total control over a man. Just give her a hug and tell her you love her. It'll confuse the shi+ outta her...and how can she argue with that??

She may be saying those things because she is feeling left out, there could have been circumstances at some point in her life where she was always cast aside and not allowed to participate, which is causing her to act like this towards you.

Get to know her, deeply, this will take time, there is a reason she is saying these things to you and it may not have anything at all to do with anything you have or haven't done.

Does she have a friend visiting? This is the exact thing my wife does when she is PMS'ing. Drives me crazy and my two sons can even identify when it is occurring. She of course denies it when I ask her or tell her what we see.

Oh Well, FOR BETTER OR WORSE, you agreed didn't you.

You are absolutely correct! My husband's ex was similar. It was ok for her to do those things but when he does it, he gets chewed out etc. Needless to say, they are no longer together and both him and I are happily married. I think it is a control thing.
