freakzilla (below) By covering up and protecting who orchestrated the outing of a CIA agent, Libby has made our intell allies less likely to connect with US agents.

The damage done by Ollie North and the sale of arms to Iran is now just showing itself in a very ugly way. We have not yet seen the results of leaking Plame's identity. Perhaps the lives of many undercover agents will be in great peril. We may not ever know this because of the nature of what they do and the organization they work for. So we may never see the total real impact of Libby's dirty deed with regard to those of Ollie North. Both of whom were scapegoats for their bosses.

Democrats AND republicans ought to rigidity a splash extra approximately situations at Walter Reed scientific institution than what's happening with Scooter Libby. How approximately looking after our wounded infantrymen first and optimum? BTW - you will no longer be able to ask a question such because of the fact the only you do without a assessment to Clinton being raised. To call for that no person does so is thoroughly unrealistic.

To start with, I believe North's conviction was overturned. and Libby's still might be.

I don't remember the details of the North case. Libby was convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice, even though no criminal activity was found with respect to the subject of the initial investigation - the leak. The prosecutor knew early on who gave Plame's name to the press, and those people were not prosecuted. So I'd say the damage Libby did to the nation was minimal, if measurable at all.

The damage done by demagogues who twist the facts for political purposes and whip up a lynch mob sentiment reminiscent of the Scottsboro Boys trial, however, does great, and perhaps incalculable, damage to our public discourse.

Both are caught between a rock and a hard place . Some measure of payment should go along with doing whats right when it effects the nation .
North was blamed for trading arms which everyone knows a man of his rank has no authority to trade anything .
Libby was ordered to keep his mouth shut and protect Cheney and Bush and n he did as he was told .

Both men should be able to have a life after telling the truth and bring down administrations instead of covering and taking the blame .

Let's see, Ollie helped oppressed renegades get weapons to defend themselves, that they otherwise would not have had, saving thousands of lives, and Scooter Libby, wait, what did he do? He didn't remember conversations about things that were said concerning something that he didn't have anything to do with. He didn't remember these things in a court of law in which no charges were ever filed against anybody. Yeah, he devastated this nation with his poor memory on irrelevant subjects.
