I have got 2 stereo speakers that i want to hook up to my new PC instead of buying some new speakers. I dont want to connect it via an amp, just connect the speakers directly to the PC via an adapter etc. They normally take the bare wire/zip cord connections to connect to the amp but i dont want it hooked up to the stereo system in my room, but use them instead of the normal PC speakers you can buy. How would i go about doing this?

Radio shack sells a no solder headphone plug end...it is simple...you connect the ground wires together then to connector...then the positive wires go to the other 2 hook-ups.

They will not sound great due to lack of power...but they will work as a set of head phones works...

Computer speakers outputs are not amplified. The amp is in the computer speaker system. Therefor you "must" run the output signal through some sort of an amplifier to produce enough signal to run your stereo speakers. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

You can't.
If the speakers are from a stereo unit, they will NEED to be powered by an AMP.

A soundcard only has a "pre-amp" to drive headphone level signals, or powered speakers.

To use "normal" 8ohm speakers you will need an amplifier of some kind.

(Assuming you actually want to hear anything)
