An airplane is flying at 600 mph. You can have your seat belt on and your head in your lap. But when the plane hits a mountain you will still be seat belted to your seat, But your head will be in Memphis.

Do not brace yourself with your arms. Most likely you would break them. Do what drunks do, just let yourself be tossed around in that seatbelt. Drunks seem like they never get hurt.
