The american media has a large ego and most people worry about what is going on within their own country and not outside of it. I have met people who have thought Canada is always cold. They freaked out when I said it was hot in summer and spring and sometimes fall. They believed when I joked and said our police force wears fur hats and ride horses in the streets. They even believed when I said Canada was ruled by a King. Its just ignorance. A business man or woman is alot more educated about other countries. Its the everyday person in the small town and only knows whats right in their face.

I think you are generalizing. The majority of Americans know what's going on in the outside world. Actually, I don't know of any other Americans who think Canadians live in igloos. That's just stupid. And the hockey thing...it's not true. So STOP generalizing and being ingnorant yourself.

PS - Maybe you should pick up a dictionary once in a while. Forget about the Americans...you show how much Canadians don't know simple grammar.

most americans are self absorbed and tend to look inward, not outward. this problem will and is now hurting america as a world leader. americans need to begin to see the world as a whole rather than something to read about in the paper or read about on the computer. we as a country have lost direction and will one day pay a terrible price for this inaction.

(1) Where are you meeting all of these Americans at? (2) Do they really ask all of the questions that you refer to? (3) Where are you getting your "facts" from? (4) Don't Canadian schools teach proper punctuation and spelling? (5) If so, do you have a learning disability? (6) Who the hell is "Wayne Grekski"?

There are silly ideas about all nations, not just Canada. I live in the U.K. and Americans who visit think it'll be like the books by Dickens! Like believing that Englishmen are like Hugh Grant in his films! Don't worry, there are foreigners like me who know better!

You might have had a stronger argument if you could spell Wayne Gretzky, Martin Short, and Dan Aykroyd.
