I am trying to determine my calorie needs for a day...here is a formula could you figure it out for me??
BMR means basal metabolic rate.
I am 37 years old, 5 foot 7 and weight 190 pounds.
Women: BMR = 655 + (9.6 X wt in kg) + (1.8 X ht in cm) - (4.7 X age in years)

Note: 1 inch = 2.54 cm.
1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs.

Thanks!!

OK, convert your weight to mass:
190 lbs * 1kg/2.2 lbs = 83.4 kg

Height in centi-meters:
5'7" = 5 feet * 12 inches /ft + 7 inches = 67 inches
* 2.54 cm / inch = 170 cm

So BMR is 655 + (9.6*86.4) + 1.8 * 170 - 4.7 * 37
655 +
829 +
306 -
174

or 1,616

there are 2.54 cm/in
if 1 kilogram = 2.2 lbs then 1 lb = 1/(2.2) kilograms = 0.454 kg/lb

BMR = 655 + (9.6 X 190 lbs *0.454kg/lb + (1.8 X 67 in*2.54 cm/in) - (4.7 X 37)

655 + 828 + 306 - 174 = 1615

BTW: the formula can be rewritten as (4.4 X wt in lb) + (4.6 X ht. in in) - (4.7 X age in yrs.)

Why don't you figure it out for yourself. 190 pounds/2.2 = kgs (about 90), and 5 ft 7 inch is 67 inches, which times 2.54 is your height in cm. (about 170).

655 + (9.6 * (190/2.2)) + (1.8 * (67*2.54)) - (4.7*37)

= 655 + (9.6 * 86.36) + (1.8 * 170.2) - (4.7 * 37)

= 655 + ( 829.1 ) + ( 306.3) - (173.9)

= 2139.3
