Seriously, it's gym, don't overthink it, just get grey slacks and a grey tshirt, and you'll be fine. Dark blue and black are good too. As for tennis shoes, I'd recommend running shoes. You're going to be running a lot, and comfort is a MUST. Otherwise you'll have sore feet and it'll only get worse and worse. Adidas is a good brand to look for in running shoes, I've had mine for a little under 2 years, and they are by far the best $60 I spent. One tip though, don't get anything white because when you sweat it starts to stain, and that'll just look bad.

I would go to Wet Seal, their stuff is totally ah-mazing and preppy.
Sears also has nice preppy clothes.
