It depends on the local culture. Some societies are more conducive to supporting democracy while others are far less likely to support democracy. These less developed societies need to develop other institutions before democracy will work there.
Remember the United States and Europe did not become democratic overnight, but through a long hard process. We should not expect anyone else to develop a liberal democracy in four years like we have in Iraq.

Well, since everyone knows at least a little about Iraq, I'll use it as a good example.
Stats have shown that the Iraqi people have put to shame every modern, western country in percetage of its population that turned out to vote (often over 70%) in every election. Add to this the amazing fact that they were dealing with death threats from terrrorists and foreign insurgents, car bombs, suicide bombers and outright maniacs and that number becomes even more amazing!!
I'd say the Iraqis really enjoy the right to choose their government. Of course 40 years or so of mass murder, tyranny, WMD attacks, rape, kidnapping and a myriad of other crimes against humanity would make anyone care about who's in charge of their country!!

Before seeking the riches of the world we should seek the kingdom of God. After obtaining a hope in Christ we should seek for riches to help the poor and clothe the naked and feed the hungry. It is Gods plan to have ppl be self sustaining, to learn to provide for themselves, to become more like Him, and the purpose of those sermons is to help ppl understand that money is not bad, greed is evil, money is good if you use it for a good purpose, education is good, to provide for your family, a house, a car, your own business, financial independence are all good, for you, for your country, for the ppl around you. Well, not all preachers ar good and not all good ppl are preachers. I don't know what I'm talking about, go an pray and get a straight answer from THE MAN!

What a condescending question!!!
Are you saying people in third world countries are too lazy or ignorant or stupid for self government?
The economic conditions in the U.S. in 1776 were dismal by today's standards. Illiteracy was high and serious diseases were wide spread. I am glad they had hope and inspiration.
The American Revolutionary leaders gained from inspiration from Greek, French, Spanish, and German philosophy.
Should the third world be denied inspiration from American successes?

Who is preaching this? Do you mean the spread of democracy to third world countries?
Because that is not the same thing.
We stay out of third world countries' politics, for the most part. But we have freedom of speech. And if we want to condemn the inhumane practices in those countries, we have that right.

Why would anycountry want to have imposed on them a two party system which is corrupt and dysfunctional. Even Bush's failed policies of democracy by gunpoint are not working.

Democracy is better than a dictatorship. Since we're the most powerful nation in the world, why not show them some of our American way of living? If it helps them, so be it.

What if the people don't want democracy? Isn't it an authoritarian act to force it upon them?
