Well, undressing I think can be misconstrued, it's almost sexual in nature, compared to you taking off your clothes by yourself and then they only see some stuff but not everything. Secondly, it's difficult and uncomfortable having a stranger look at you nakedish, it makes people more comfy. The robes are hilarious though, how many times have you put that thing on wrong?! lol

In most cases, you undress yourself and the nurse/female assistant places sheets and towels over everything except what he needs to look at, and then she stands so that she can observe everything he does and says. It's the only way he can protect himself from lawsuits these days.

Lets see..... to make sure the hidden camera has enough film in it? Because he can't stand to look at ya? Seen one seen 'em all? Pervert comes to mind. Respect? Need another shot of whiskey before going down. Has to re-ice his lap before entering. Doesn't want you to see him rubbing his hands together impatiently. Had something better going on in the other room.
