In my wildest dream, I would never have believed that a person with a Doctor degree would want to commit mass murder. The recent bombing attempts in Great Britain planned by people with Doctor Degree’s worries me greatly. How many "Sleeper Terrorist" Doctors, University Professors, High School Teachers, Lawyers, Politicians do we have in the USA, just biding their time; waiting on word from their leader to strike?

I can't say what I would like to because you have the ball. What does amaze me though is how our societies are viewed. They can not move around so they are stationary, and held at a disadvantage point for being so. A society can not move , it's frozen to the land. like a statue one might say. just waiting to be filled with good and honest people, The image reminds me of a victim of violence, always a victim. and we will probably have that mentality until we put in place a protection for our people.

Yes, we have sleeper cells in the U.S. The FBI and CIA actively seek out intelligence on them. Many of them are American citizens. This is what the controversy was over when Bush allowed the CIA to do wiretapping on American citizens - everyone was up in arms but the CIA was authorized to do this only when they strongy suspected that person was planning terrorist actions. Because we as a country place a higher value on civil liberties, the CIA is no longer allowed to "spy" on U.S. citizens. In one way that is good....no one wants to feel like "big brother" is constantly monitoring all of us. In another way, it's bad because it enables U.S. citizens who wish to do us all harm a freedom to plan, communicate, and carry out terrorist acts much more easily.

One of the greatest qualities of Americans are their generous nature and compassion for other people. In the end, however, it may be our greatest weakness because we refuse to get tough on people we need to get tough on - treat them with the same disregard as they treat us. Instead, we all worry about how they are treating the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay. These are the very people who planned the 9/11 attack but the American people can't bring themselves to say "you know what? beat the sh*t out of them- they deserve it." No. We provide them medical care, exercise, religious freedom, a play yard, t.v. time, etc. Now, I'm not barbaric...like I said....every situation we encounter is balanced with our own human struggle with what is moral. But can we afford to continue giving terrorists our sympathy, our compassion, freedom b/c we are more human than they are? It's a sticky question. If we treat them the way they treat us, we stoop to their level and perhaps end up losing the very heart and soul that makes Americans a great, courageous people.

Funny, I was talking to friends about this issue this morning. What kind of damage could be inflicted if all the police were Mafia members? Here we have to ask about the medical personnel and it is a frightening thought. I trust none of them, and do not have a doctor myself. I have a very dear friend who is a paramedic, and I trust my health concerns to her.

The lack of any serious, successful attacks since 911 shows that they are doing a good job. However, we must all be forever vigilant to help them as it appears from recent events that the enemy is more likely to be stepping up their efforts than lessening them.
