There was a lot of pressure on him involving the steroid issues and he didn't want any part of that. He took a year off and came back when things started to cool off a little involving his own involvement.

That's because when he played for orioles, he didn't put up good numbers. So at the end of the season he only got a contract of $500,000 by nationals. He didn't like it, so he quit. Now rangers gave him a shot and he's doing pretty good.
