Does anyone else have severe pain when ovulating? I keep getting bad pain in my abdomen each cycle when I ovulate. I have been ttc for 4 months months so I have it charted. I know some women have mittelschmertz but I did not know it could be this bad. I have been to the gyn's, there is nothing else wrong.... no infections or anything of the like. Does anyone else know of or experience the same?

Mine are also quite bad (worse than menstrual cramps actually). It's good for TTC that you know exactly when you ovulate but I know...it hurts like heck and it's seriously not when you feel like having sex (which is unfortunate if you're TTC!).

Have you ever had an ultrasound to check your ovaries? I do have a cyst on my right ovary that is of no concern but my midwife said it could account for the severity of the mittelschmertz. I take advil when I feel the pinching start so I'm not doubled over by the time the real whoppers come.

Good luck TTC! Just remember that perfectly healthy, fertile couples take an average of 5 months to conceive. That's exactly how long it took us!

I am very sorry, but since you've already been checked out by a doctor, then this normal.

This is why they call it The Curse. Yes, the pain can be very bad sometimes, as well as bloating, cramps, all kind of fun stuff :s But! There is hope yet, diet and exercise, can not emphasize enough. Vitamins and supplements, calcium and magnesium, drinking more milk will help ease the pain the next time. Exercise regular, get your body moving, build up your immune system and resistance. I've noticed, in months where I'm not drinking as much milk, the cramps are tens times worse.

However, if you notice any other symptoms or the pain gets much worse, please see your doctor right away.

Mittelschmerz is normal and doesn't affect fertility, cramps, menopause, or anything else about your reproductive system. It just hurts. I had it, and my daughter has it.

Tell your OB-Gyn if over-the-counter medications do not enable you to function pretty much normally. It may be that your pain threshold is low and you need an Rx for a couple days of the month, or to have a higher dose of ibuprofen than the bottle says (which is okay if your doc says it is).

yes I use midol which also helps fix the bloating. If your still trying to concieve I would get an ovulation kit and for the next 36 hours after a poitive result have fun. Not everyone ovulaters 2 weeks after their cycle mine is 9 days after. Make sure after sex you kepp your pelvis elevated for 25 min and are at least 18% body fat and taking all the vitamins you need good luck!

I get mittelschmertz, but it's worse when my ovarian cyst is acting up. You might check with your doctor about that possibility.
