base= 9 ft. 3in. altitude= 5ft. 6in.
how would i figure that out to keep ft. and in.
A= .5(9.25*5.5)
A=.5(50.875)
A=25.4375
A= 25ft. 5.25in.? is that right(.4375*12 to get inches)

That looks correct to me.
You did the right thing by converting to one unit first, then converting back to multiple units.

Almost OK. A in units of length square. So the ft should be ft squared. The .43275 needs to be multiplied by 144 to get square inches. Most people would opt to quit with the 25.4375 ft^2 answer.

Well, A=.5(b*h), and area is in square units, not just plain ones. So the area would have to be x square feet or square inches, not just x feet/inches.

A=.5(111in*66in)
A=14,652 sq. inches

or

A=.5(9.25ft*5.5ft)
A=25.45 square ft.

I get the same answer

base = 111"
alt = 66"

(1/2)*b*a = 7326 sq.inches = 25.4375 sq feet = 25 ft and 5.25 inches
