A number of ways...
1) Look up your current graphics card on the web and see if it's an AGP or PCI one... if it's AGP, see what speed it is (i.e. AGP, AGP2x, AGP4x or AGP8x).
2) Look up your motherboard on the web and see if it's got an AGP slot and if so what speed it is.
3) Look AT your computer's insides and see where the video card is plugged in. Does it look like a PCI slot? There will be several of them, all the same design and colour on the mobo, one for each slot. If it's not a PCI slot then it's probably an AGP one... assuming your PC isn't so new it's PCI express or so old it's ISA or EISA.
If it's an AGP slot, you still need to know what speed card it is... or what speeds the slot can accept to make sure you get a replacement that will work in your mobo.

AGP 8.x is what the Gforce FX 5200 is.
Your mainboard may contain a PCI-Express slot but chances are AGP 8.x is the type of card you'll be looking for.
This would be the next step up but it doesn't look significant. Might be enough to play that video game tho!

If you have a Gforce FX 5200 then you can upgrade to the 7000 series. All up to that are the same pin style.
Tho if it's PCI then I think all will work. Just have to make sure they have drivers to support your system.
For a good look at the differences::

a great kind of the greater present day, greater constructive enjoying cards popping out are PCI convey enjoying cards. they're usually a tad bit smaller and greater fee-effective. And the reality that AGP is getting previous, alot of the recent agencies are purely going to start making PCI convey enjoying cards.

AGP slot on the motherboard is usually a single smaller brown slot that PCI cards that fit into.
Look at the typical picture of a motherboard in this link

The top brown slot is an AGP and the other white slots are PCI

the only way of upgrading graphics card is by updating it by downloading and update from the company's official site, or by buying a new card somewhere. I cant tell if mine is agp or pci, but i think it doesnt matter. they all fit into the pci slot on the motherboard..i think atleast

I'd say that's an AGP card which is now old technology. I'd guess that your board does not support PCI Express which is the newest technology.
