Its just how your body is. Everyone is different. Any it could be that his penis is lacking gerth. Length isn't nearly as important as thickness for a male.
However, I'm assuming you don't want to wound his ego the way he obviously insensitively wounded yours so.....I would just tell him that your body is simply different and that you were indeed a virgin. If he doubts you or continues to make those remarks then honey just get rid of him. You deserve someone to loves and respects you.

Don't take it out on yourself. All women are different. Before you check yourself, check that it's not just his own self-esteem issues plaguing him and causing him to lash out at your emotions because he feels he can't meet your emotional needs. Maybe it's him....he just doesn't fit.
Otherwise know that when you are comfortable and trusting of the person your sleeping with also you will be more open so it may be that.
