I once saw a post on here in which a girl said that her best friend told her that the reason why she didn't have a boyfriend was because she normally went for the gorgeous, popular types. Perhaps her friend meant well, but it seems to me that her friend was sort of insulting her by implying that she was somehow unattractive.

Sometimes people need to be brought back down to reality and maybe she felt the need to tell her friend that that was the reason she wasn't getting lucky in the love area. Sometimes, you might hurt someones feelings but that might help them change that bad or annoying behavior because they actually took your comments and thought about them. If they did change the behavior, that means that they also realized how they were acting and wanted to change as well.

I think that in some cases it can be a little insulting, but if a friend is trying to help you out by telling you the truth don't get mad. I one told my best friend that she will never keep a man because her attitude was so nasty towards them, nut she always complained about not finding a good man. She drove them away. She was mad nut she straightened up and changed that attitude and her and her new man been together for 5 years. It's just the way you say things to people sometimes that can make it seem insulting, but it is really not.

Best friends should be open and honest and be able to say pretty much anything to each other. Besides, I don't think she was implying her friend was unattractive -- just that it is SO MUCH harder to make an impression on that type of guy. Looks shouldn't be the biggest factor involved in any realtionship, anyway, of course.

That's not an insult - that's a friend being truthful with a friend. She could have said it more tactfully - by saying that gorgeous, popular type guys are not the kind of guy that ANY girl should be dating. You're being too sensitive.

It is never acceptable to insult a friend. If someone is truly your friend, you'll be cautious not to insult them especially about sensitive issues like her taste in men. Ouch!!
