Make sure that you don't have a large item blocking the water source in your dishwasher. Most times, there is a hole in the back of the dishwasher where it shoots water straight through to the door where the soap dispenser is. If you have a large pan or dish blocking the path of the water, it can't rinse the dispenser clean, thus leaving soap on the door. Also, if there is a little door on your soap dispenser, I suggest trying to leave it open when you start the machine. Sometimes, if it doesn't open at the right time, it can delay the washing process. Depending on what type of soap you are using, I would stick with liquid detergent or the tabs of soap. Powdered detergents are really hard to dissolve, and they require a very high temperature of water.

Most likely it is the water temperature. The others may want you to believe that a rinse agent will solve this problem or a different soap but that is the most common mistake people make about washability problems. The rinse agent will help to prevent spotting not filming. Changing from a powder soap to a liquid or gel or tablet usually does little to no difference. Check your water temperature. The temperature should be at the minimum 120 degrees F. inside the dishwasher. To check temperature you must allow the unit to fill and empty at least once before you want to take a reading. Allow the water to fill and then stop the unit simply by opening the door and using a type of thermometer that is made to immerse in liquid. Slosh it around in the water in the bottom of the tub for at least 30 sec. and take a reading. Some dishwashers are designed to pause and heat the water for the main wash as well as for one of the rinses. On some with this feature you can select to use or not use this feature it is better to select to use this feature as it will ensure that you have hot enough water to clean the dishes properly. I have found through the years that gas water heaters or summer/winter water heating on oil burners are the most notorious for allowing the water temperature to get cooler through time. If either one of these is what you have heating your water you may need to in the case of a gas heater turn the knob up slightly or in the case of the oil burner have a service check and clean or replace the water heating coils.

I went thru this myself. It turns out that certain areas have hard water. You pretty much have to either keep changing detergents until one works for your type of water. The only alternative is to get a water softener system put into your home. Drives me nuts. Also you may wanna make sure that your rinse agent is full. But I did all that and it came down to hard water. Check your manual if you have one. It should tell you about it in there. Even if you don't have the manual for your machine, get hold of any manual. It tells you about it. good luck. Maybe you should switch to liquid instead of powder.

It sounds like your water is not getting hot enough, or maybe your water is restricted. There should ba a filter on the floor of your dishwasher that needs to be cleaned, we searched the web for the exploded view of our unit and it was really easy to open up and clean, Made a huge difference

I would guess that the water heating element is not working. Most DW's require 130 to 140 degree water to dissolve the detergents.
