Nixon stepped down, Clinton had to be impeached and still wouldn't step down.

Donc- Nixon got us out of Vietnam, it was Johnson and Kennedy (two Democrats) who sent them there. Get your history straight! Besides, Clinton lied under oath, to a grand jury and obstructed justice and a criminal investigation. He also lied under oath concerning two lawsuits of sexual harassment brought against him by Paula Jones and Jennifer Flowers. Big difference!

What Bill Clinton was charge for:
1) He lied under oath at a civil deposition while he was a defendant in a sexual harassment lawsuit.
2) He lied under oath to a grand jury.
3) He attempted to influence the testimony of a potential witness who had direct knowledge of facts that would reveal the falsity of his deposition testimony.
4) He attempted to obstruct justice by facilitating a witness’s plan to refuse to comply with a subpoena.
5) He attempted to obstruct justice by encouraging a witness to file an affidavit that the President knew would be false, and then by making use of that false affidavit at his own deposition.
6) Lied to potential grand jury witnesses, knowing that they would repeat those lies before the grand jury.
7) He engaged in a pattern of conduct that was inconsistent with his sworn constitutional duties to faithfully execute the laws.
Twenty four people were sentenced that year to a federal correctional institution for perjury averaging 5 years.

Jeff s- The lack of funding was primarily because of large funding cutbacks by the U.S. Congress which is true. But Nixon did create the exist strategy and implementation of withdrawl which delivered 'peace with honor', and ended American involvement.

Clinton was/is scum . . . he has no morals, and will do only what is best for him. Dare I say it? Typical democrat.
Nixon stepped down, as mentioned, doing what was best for the country.
Damn, I feel like I am a bitter old lady over here when thinking about Clinton - why'd you have to bring him up?!? hahaha, kidding - we as a people will never get over what he did to/in the office. for those who want us to move on, they are just as bad . . .

What Clinton lied about, despicable as it was, was strictly a personal issue, Nixon lied about something that effected National Security. I'm not defending what Clinton did but sex in the White House and lying about it is just not the same as authorizing a break in and wiretapping then using various Gov't agencies to try and cover it up. On a related note, I was in Europe during the whole Clinton thing, people were amused that it was such a big deal.
The general attitude was why bother prosecuting him, that should be between him and his wife, dont you have anything more important to focus on?

Nixon stepped down because he wanted to avoid an impeachment trial which would undoubtedly have brought out more wrongdoings and involved more government officials. He did it to save his own skin, Clinton didn't because he lied under oath about sex. That's all there was.
No, Nixon was not a better president. Get real.

simply? they both lied. Clinton lied about something to do with his personal love life (no ones business, but Hilary's) and Nixon lied about a government security issue (public's business) Lying is lying, this is true, but Clinton should have told the media it was none of their business, but he shoul never have been put in the position to lie publicly over a personal issue. As wrong as it was, it is still not the business of the masses as a government issue is.

Nixon was a good president. The Watergate scandal has clouded all that he did. Clinton didn't really do anything, he pretty much skated through the whole administration. So you can't compare the two. The only reason Clinton was not removed was that it would have put Al Gore in the top seat giving him more points for re-election and impeachment is very tough on a country and should be avoided at all cost, thus the reason, Nixon resigned.

Do you want me to write a book?????
Your point is really watered down... you are comparing oranges to apples. If you don't like Clinton then create a blog where you can insult his memory all you want but I don't think this forum is actually appropriate. I didn't like Clinton but I also realize that he is no longer in the executive office... Its really time for people like you to move on and join 2007 or go away. (Or maybe put your question in the History section)

They were both power hungry, they both lied, they both should have stepped down. Nixon did what was best for the country and took a personal hit, while Clinton let our country take the hit while he did what was best for himself.
Just my opinion.
