Hey everyone! So I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and for the past 2 days I’ve been having a REAL hard time catching a deep breath. I heard this can happen to you later on in your pregnancy, but this early? Before I got pregnant, only occasionally did I have a hard time catching a deep breath, but NOTHING to bring a concern. Last night it was so bad that I started crying. Today, I’m just getting real nervous. My hubby and I don’t have insurance, so to go to the doctors would cost a bit of a penny. Should I call my OB and ask him about this or should I go see a diff kind of doc? I have NO clue what to do. Please only serious answers. Thanks ahead of time.

A few of you have said that I should go apply for financial aid. My husband and I have already done that, but the state said we make too much money. We were also told that even if I left my job, my hubby makes too much... the same if he were to leave his job and I were to keep mine. We've called around but no insurance co will take us because we are already pregnant.

Also, I already have an OB. My pregnancy and having no insurance is not my question, neither is getting prenatal care. I am already seeing an OB and paying out of pocket. Im just more concerned on if I should call my OB regarding my shortness of breath or if there is a diff kind of doc I should see.

I think you should call your OB. I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and have been having a harder than usual time breathing. I've noticed I breath faster and I've caught myself short of breath many times. I remember being the same way early on in my 1st pregnancy but I have no idea why.

Ofcourse you should go to the doctor. If you have no insurance, then you should look into applying for medicaid, which will cover the ob visits and birth of the baby, it also covers visits to adult medicine, dentist, etc. If that is not an option, then try going to a health clinic instead of a private doctor, they are always alot cheaper, not to mention, you can try applying for charity care, which is also a great help for those who do not have insurance, as far as the breathing, this is a must that you go to the doctor, call your ob, but Im sure he'll tell u the same thing. Good Luck!

My first suggestion is to call your OB and talk to him/her. This is a serious concern if it put you in tears. DOn't take me wrong, it might not be a serious issue, but the concern is until you know if it is something major. Good luck with that!
Now, for the next piece of advice. I don't know where you're from, but if you and hubby don't have health insurance, go apply for a medical card, or try and buy some health insurance. It is much better for you to have some sort of coverage during the pregnancy. It is not like you would be "living off the system". It would only cover you and the baby during the pregnancy and 6 months for you after for postpartum period. Then, the baby may keep it if you want the baby to. Good luck!! And congratulations!!

It is always advisable when it comes to breathing to see a doctor. What you are having isn't abnormal though. Your body is using up to 50% more oxygen and blood to support the little one growing inside you.
If the weather is at all muggy and humid or the alergins are particularly high, asthma can be triggered and you may need an inhalor to help you out.
If you can call and get a little more advice that would be a very good idea.
Later on in your pregnancy the hard breathing is because the baby is pushing up on your ribs and there is less space to take a deep breath.

With my experience I have the same issue. I know that this is common in pregnancy. You should just take it easy. If it gets to the point where you really cannot breathe then you should go to the emergency room. Drink plenty of water. Keep in mind when you panic, u can cause your breathing situation to worsen. Cryin also doesnt help with breathing better. Just try your best to stay calm. Have your hubby rub you and comfort you. Try heating up water and letting the steam hit your nostrils to help clear your pathways. Its nothing to be a of a big deal. Relax hun! you will be fine!

If you live in the US, you will qualify for medicaid if you don't have insurance. It is different than regular medicaid and the income limits are higher. You really need to see a doctor. I'm sure everything is fine right now, but it is important to get prenatal care. My husband and I have never been able to qualify for medicaid because our income was too high, but when I was pregnant we did qualify because we had no insurance. You should really look into it, you'll feel much less nervous if you are seeing your doctor regularly. Plus it will reduce the stress of worrying about the finances which you don't need right now. Best of luck to you and your baby.

I have never been pregnant, so I don't know what you're going through. But, if I were you I would go online first. Look for answers in pregnancy websites. If you have to spend money, it would be worth it for the health of your baby. Also, maybe you're not getting proper amounts of water. It will be very easy for you to become tired and dehydrated if you're over 3 months pregnant. Play it safe. By the way, Congradulations!

Call your doctor. In the mean time check into getting some sort of free insurance from your local health and welfare department of job and family services.

you should call your OB and see what s/he says! It may be nothing but then again it could be serious and it never hurts to ask!
