Yes indeed! Of course you can stay there on a certain budget but will it please you? London as many other beautyful places are great but on a low price it ain't the same! Up to you and your expectations...

= I think it depends a lot on what you would like for example a flat just off Oxford Street is a good location (depending on exactly where though to be honest...I meant Tottenham Ct Rd end isn't exactly glamorous!) hwoever that is a really busy part of town and you are always going to get lots of noise and people around. I agree with other poster - Angel is a lovely part of town with gorgeous restaurants. However perhaps you would feel Kensington or Chelsea to be more appropriate - certainly plenty of young beautiful people around there - successful? well certainly monied and there are also older people around there too. It is a lot more old school there though. If you want somewhere more funkier and trendier - what about Clerkenwell. Definitely the place if you are into the arts and / or media. There are some gorgeous loft style apartments in that area and there is access to all the cutting edge bars / clubs / restaurants of East London (Hoxton/ Shoreditch etc) I always think the river is a lovely place to live by however so I would recommend something like Chelsea / Pimlico /. Shad Thames etc - one of the complexes by the river. Shad Thames would be a good idea if you are city worker? Hope that helps!!

Yes Jackie! Outrageously expensive!!! Grotesquely expensive!!! Frightfully expensive!!!
London IS the most expensive City in the world!!!
It is close to impossible to buy a house there and also the rent is the highest in the world too! Many Londoners have moved out of London. The food is also very expensive in London. Another example of outrageousness is the taxi rate from the Airport to Central London which is about 150 GBP!!!

I'm a New Yorker that recently spent two weeks in London.
I can't comment on rents, or salary levels, but in the stores, everything seems to be 2x as costly as New York. The pound=dollar exchange is at a 26 year high benefitting the UK... that means 2 dollars = 1 pound... of course, health care is free in the UK, so that needs to be factored in...

officially now the most expensive capital to live in..
moreso than tokoyo and new york
they did a survey of the major capitals..
although its comparable.. e.g. your wages.. rent etc..
obvoiusly depends if your wise with money, somethings are aimed at tourists etc and woefully over priced.
