Is it a cause for complete infertility? No. But, according to the website provided [and my doctor] smoking in excess created 'impaired fertility.' It does not mean that you will never be able to have children, however, it just means that you will have a harder time conceiving.
If you are trying to get pregnant and smoking why not just quit? It's best to quit before getting pregnant because then you don't have the stress of being pregnant and smoking.

That's a new one on me. I smoked cigg's during the time I conceived both pregnancies. I quit smoking during each pregnancy. They were 5 years apart....I was on birth control during the 5 year span. Both children grew up to be without birth defects...excelled in school "Who's Who in America." & today are beautiful & have great jobs. I believe that if your body is Healthy regardless whether you smoke or not....You will get pregnant if desired.

I don't know if, medically, there's any truth to it. I do know that everyone in my family smokes, including myself. I'm on my third pregnancy now. My grandparents (both smokers) had 5 children. Those 5 children had a total of about 20 kids. My grandparents now have 8 great-grandchildren.
In my family, smoking doesn't seem to have anything to do with our fertility.

It is not the same as being on birthcontrol.
But it decreases your chances.
Lucky for the baby, I'd say. Because a baby is better off being not born than being born with brain damage that will hold him or her back in life because his mother could not do without her smokes.

it can contribute to it. but it's not a definite cause of infertility, esp in everyone. i got preggers while a smoker (i quit, asap though! best motivation EVER) it's best to quit when you are ttc, that way you don't smoke while pregnant & expose your baby to it at all.

Yes of course it can lower fertility - on both the husband's and wife's part. So does booze and drugs - let alone all else they can do!
