Not ever! Independance Day is recognized for the birthday of our country's "independance". It isn't a day that we can, or should, take lightly. Many people are too lax as it is on this day, sitting at parades instead of standing, refusing to face the flag, refusing to place a hand over their heart during the pledge or National Anthem, etc.

It is sad enough already that we have to tolerate the lazy antics of so many people in our country who don't appreciate our freedom. How can we face our flag with honor and pride after changing the day that we recognize it for its day of glory? This isn't a "little issue" to discuss at the town meeting, it is much too important to even consider. It is much too serious of a holiday to "improvise" for the convenience of a few lazy union workers who want 3 day weekends.

God bless America and all who love it

No. Hence the alternative term "Fourth of July". The Declaration of Independence was signed on the Fourth Of July, 1776. It's often called the Nation's Birthday or Anniversary (although the war with Britain continued for years afterward). Celebrating it on any other day wouldn't make sense. Memorial Day and Labor Day are just days of rememberance, the actual date of them doesn't have any real meaning.

No! That is not how Jesus would want it, that's when hour great countrymen signed the declaration of independence! If you have a hard time at work the next day you should celebrate our great country more! so you can rest more.

You mean make it a "Monday" holiday? No. That's like asking to make Christmas or New Year's Day a Monday holiday.

That depends on who you ask. Most people I know (with families) want it off.
