Last Tuesday coming home going south towards the Manzano Mountains in New Mexico, I saw a huge reddish ball somewhat like the harvest moon. It was still and then slowly subsided out of view. It was too big for a hot air balloon and someone told me they don't fly at night. It was 9:30 p.m. Did I see a UFO?

Personally, I think you saw the moon which was subsequently blocked from view by thick haze or clouds. The time you state is about the time the nearly full moon would have been rising.
Let me ask, was this object above the southeastern horizon? (because that's where the moon would have been rising)

It couldn't have been the Moon, because the Moon has been rising, and it's in a nearly full phase (waning toward gibbous).
At 9:30 PM, you might have seen the very rounded top of a stratocumulus cloud in the distance, with just the barest of dusk sunlight reaching the topmost structure, fading with the setting Sun.
You saw it. You couldn't identify it. So, it must either be a UFO or a UHO (unidentified hovering object).

If you saw it flying and you don't know what it was, then yes, you saw a UFO. All UFO means is Unidentified Flying Object. If you saw a flying object and could not identify it, then it was a UFO. But UFO does NOT mean alien space ship. The fact that you do not know what it was is no proof, not even a hint, that is was an alien space ship.

UFO is unidentified flying object. Did you know what was the flying object you saw? it could easily be a plane and doesn't necessarily mean an alien ship but you saw an unidentified flying object

It is hard to tell if you did. There are a lot of other factors to be thrown into that question could be the culprit to your answer. Shooting stars stuff like that. You know what is a really good book to read that you might like that I believe deals with those mountains, I can't remember for sure, is "Phoenix Lights". Check it out you might be interested.

Yes you did. Any object you observe in the sky that you cannot identify is by definition a UFO (unidentified flying object). Perhaps you meant to ask, "Did I see an alien craft? or Did I see a flying saucer?"

If You beleive that what you saw was a UFO, then it is! Yes I do beleive that other life forms are out there, but who am I to say if you saw one or not, I wasn't there! So even though this may sound cheesy, It's what YOU beleive that counts.

probably some military testing off in the distance. If you didnt get a picture or video, it would be hard to tell exactly

If you could not identify it it was definitively a UFO.
