Human body needs rest. If you exhaust certain part of your body, it will take time to recover. It's a signal from you body telling you that how much is too much.

Could be several different things, but a couple ideas would be. It could be an elevation in blood pressure to build up, or it could be it was really intense and you were not quite in shape enough.
