Why do men marry?

Question

When they get all the love, support and comfort from their mothers and claim them to be more valuable than the ones their wife provides....what is one thing that a wife can give that a mother cannot? Why do men they marry ?

they claim to get sex/orgasm from any women
kids...they can adopt...
they do not need a wife?
i am not my dad's girl...so i did not understand one of the answers below...

any other answer please?

i ask this question because my husband himself needs an answer to this...he feels he does not need a wife...

Men and women want the same thing. A loving life partner.
that is such a silly question. We want a life partner and children and a home of our own.
There is more to life than just sex and taking care of someone. The family arrangement is from God to give us a loving home and little people to take care of.
You should see my husband with our children and grand children. We still want to be together and we do have sex contary to what some of these men answered.
Why do they think their is no sex in marriage?
Maybe they didn't marry the right women.

Men marry for many reasons, and obviously yours is having a problem with the idea (and maybe he needs to cut the apron strings if he thinks his mother makes a good enough wife). There's nothing wrong with having an "involved" mother, but as his wife, it's your duty to take care of him now, not her. And vice versa, he should be taking care of you. Thats what a marriage is.

You choose a partner and you take care of one another, you plan your future together and you build a life together. Marriage is supposed to be comfortable, wonderful, emotional, sexual...You're a team.

His mom needs to start relying on her own husband (boyfriend...mate) for personal companionship, not her son.

The love between a mother,and a wife are two completely seperate loves.You don't see your mother naked.YOu don't have sex with your mother either.It sounds like their may be some deep emotional issuses that he may be dealing with.As for him telling you he doesn't need a wife that must be devastating to you.Try some things in your relationship that are fresh,new and different.Maybe he may be experiencing a dry spell.Everyone has them from time to time.

Men want the American Dream. A gorgeous wife, 2.3 beautiful kids, 2 cars in the driveway, at 2000 sqaure foot house and a small cottage up north.

Sweetheart, if he says he doesn't need a wife, I think this is his way of possibly saying he wants a divorce.
To answer the main question, however, it's mostly for religious/spiritual reasons, as most religions view this as "right in the divine's eyes..."
and for the great tax benefits,silly!(LOL)....
and, as my best friend says...."Marriage is just legalized prostitution"(i.e., you have to give something...aka sex....in order to get something in return...aka money,house repairs,etc....)
