I think we should get our troops home as soon as possible too...

but there is just one thing bothering me... that group of Terrorist that attacked us on 9-11, are in Iraq now, today.

I´m against the Iraqi war, i think we should withdrawl our troops but i´m for the war on Al-qeada,

and now since we know Al-qeada is in Iraq, does that mean i´m no longer for withdrawling the troops and for the Iraqi war?

i mean, it is possible to change your stance on things, since most democrates running (xcept obama) were for the iraq war and are now against it... is it possible for someone against it to all of a sudden be for it???

what are your thoughts on withdrawling the troops even though Al-qeada is active in Iraq??

We need to get the troops out. But in an orderly fasion and not just cut and run.

What needs to be really pushed is getting Iraq's government to start taking more responsibility in a much faster time than is currently happening.

The only problem I had with going to Iraq is that it wasnt enough. Al quaeda WAS in Iraq prior to the war, they were also in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, India, Pakestan, et al....

People keep going on about not finding WMD, well if you took the entire population of San Diego and brought them to Texas, how long do you think it would take them to find a warehouse that was probably buried underground? Hell, how long would it take them to find a warehouse period? Well the population of San Diego has almost 1 MILLION people more than the amount of troops we have in Iraq.

People in this country are just TOO used to INSTANT gratification. They want something done and they want it NOW.

P.S. Thanks for being able to see clearly and understanding the big picture.

Here's the thing, Congress gave Bush permission to use force in the Middle East to catch terrorist. They did not give him permission to rebuild nations.

Yes, we need to catch terrorist. Yes, we need to make sure nothing like 9-11 ever happens again. But as long as we're in Iraq, I can not support it.

Too many people have died. Over 3,500 American soldiers have died, and over half a millions Iraqi civilians have died. Yet the President continues to "ask for patience". I guess 5 years of patience isn't enough.

As far as a troop withdraw goes, I'm all for it. And if the truth is to be known, Al-qeada is everywhere. Not just in Iraq. Not just in the Middle East. But everywhere. I bet you anything that there are probably spotters over here in the America right now.

Actually, the Al-Qaeda in Iraq is not the same Al-Qaeda. This group has taken on the name, but they're not affiliated with the group responsible for 9/11. Another little fact that the corporate-controlled media has failed to tell you.

I don't think there's any easy answer for troop withdrawl. It's not our job to export democracy. It's not the job of the American millitary to act as a police force for a sovereign country. But, our reputation on the international front will sink even lower if we were to simply withdraw and leave Iraq in its current state.

The best thing would be to never have gone in.

You are recognizing a few very important facts. We engaged the enemy, who is now concentrating their efforts against us in a foreign land. With this being the case, our mainland is safer and has avoided subsequent attacks to 9/11. It is important for us to continue engaging the enemy in Iraq and Afganistan. We are removing the ability for them to concentrate their efforts by keeping them on the run and in a defensive posture. I applaud the troops who are completing this mission, as they are doing one hell of a job. If we retreat from Iraq, it will serve as a giant vacuum and you will see Iran and Syria begin to impose their influence in turning the region into a hotbed of militant Islamic extremism. The matter of leaving Iraq is complicated, but we are doing the right thing - militarily.

We have been sold a bill of goods by the government on this. They tell us we cannot leave Iraq because there are terrorists there. They try to present the impression that the Iraqi government and military cannot stand on their own. They strive to create the illussion that if we leave Iraq will immediately fall and be replaced by a terrorist regime. Indeed all of these things are possible, but not necessarily likely.

Iraq has a government and a military. To date these forces are not living up to their potentital and they are not honoring their commitments. It is my belief that as long as we shield them and provide the majority of their protection they never will. We are not going to kill all the terrorists in the world no matter how long we stay in Iraq. At some point Iraq is going to have stand or fall on it's own. Frankly, in my opinion today is as a good a day as any for them to start.

Lastly to those who see a withdrawal as a loss. This is bunk. We have achieved our goals in Iraq. We overthrew the government. The Iraqis have a new government of their choosing and the demands of democracy have been satisfied. We have no evidence of any WMD threat going forward. Should Iraq collapse, which again is unlikely, we can reinvade if necessary, but our continued presence in this country at this time amounts to nothing more than an open-ended occupation and it needs to end.

It is time for the healing to begin, both in Iraq and the United States, but that will never happen if we continue to "stay the course".

Our focus should have been in Afghanistan. The people of Iraq didn't ask for this. We should get out!
Terrorism is world wide. They have no borders. I think we have been ignoring defense. In every game there is offense AND defense.
To stay in Iraq is just prolonging the inevitable...we have to leave sometime and it may as be right now so no more Americans are killed.
Conventional war is NOT going to end terrorism. It just lines the pockets of the war profiteers.

To kill the snake one must sever the head. The head of Al Qaeda is in Afghanistan/Pakistan.

The Al Qaeda in Iraq exist only because we are there. Without us they have no reason for being there. What stirs them to do what they do is because they see us Westerners as infidels on their sacred land. Once we leave that sacred land they will have no reason to attack us any more. What they do to each other is their business. Since the people of that region have been solving their differences for over 3000 years without outide help I believe they will handle this too.

Al Qaeda is a creation of the CIA and American corporations. So I propose that we get our troops NOW since we never should have been there and let the corporations pay private contractors to deal with Al Qaeda if they care so much.
