Most every fan likes to see the best players on the field and A-Rod is certainly one of them. This is not the Yankees vs. Red Sox, it is the All-Star game and the winning league will have home field advantage for their representative in the world series. Don't you think the Red Sox fans would love to see A-Rod win the game for the American League since that would give home field advantage to the Red Sox should they win the American League pennant?

He tried to break Morneau's foot? Do you realize that there is NO logic behind that sentence? Every player in MLB is smart enough not to try to purposely hurt another player during the game.

I'd love to see A-Rod playing in the All Star game. Yea, he might not be in it due to his injury, but the fact that he got voted in makes me proud. A-Rod is an amazing player on his own, and he obviously has major fan support. If he can't make the All-Star game, they still have Derek and Jorge to represent them.

Yankees Love. <3

As a die hard Sox fan, I hate to say it but I would have liked to have seen A-Rod in the All Star Game because he has had one of the best 1st halves to a season in recent memory...but as I have that thought, the other half of my brain, the smart side who pulls for the Red Sox says otherwise. That side of my brain would liked to have seen A Rod not get up from his collision the other night and watch the Yankees fall into an abyss...however it appears they can do that with A Rod.

If he's injured, he's injured. His first responsibility SHOULD BE to the team that pays his salary, and playing his best (when he can play) in championship competition games. The ASG is a nice bonus, but it doesn't count.

Seligula has utterly destroyed league identity, and the players understand this even if they don't recognize (or at least never mention) it explicitly. The WS HFA thing is a weak attempt to get the players feeling vested in the game's alleged importance again, but it's too little, too late. Oh, and it's a selling point to the slower-minded fans, but so are the beer commercials with the hot, scantily-clad chicks.

OK

A. tried to break morneu's foot? There is no basis or sense behind that comment...at all...even a little...

B. Georgie Porgie...do you think it is as funny when your players get hurt? Did you crack jokes when you lost Zumaya? I doubt it...it isn't funny or right to root for injuries...

C. The game is at a national league park...where the hell is Ortiz gonna play?? We gonna see a humorous attempt at Papi playing a position?? (I do think he is a phenom hitter, but he is terrible in the field and there is no real place for him in this years NL park all star game)

D. A-rod's number one concern should be the yanks making a run for the playoffs, not risking further injury in a game that doesn't matter all that much ( I know, this time it still, still counts...can Bud Selig come up with a new friggin slogan after three still cuonts?)

FYI-A-Rod didn't try to break Morneau's foot. As a Yankees fan I would really like to see him play, however he has to do what is right for him and his body. I will support him no matter what he decides. The nice thing is, he said if he didn't play he would still attend the game.

I would not want any player playing in the game if they are hurt. They need to take care of themselves so they can help their team on an everyday basis. Of course I want the AL to win so the Sox can have home field advantage in the World Series but with Mike Lowell at third for the All Star game, they will still win! :)

Wow, ur stupid. I wuz at that game, and Morneau took up the whole ******* bag.

I don't care really, I really don't care about the All - Star game anymore. Its a load of crap.

Georgie, if Ordonez ever got a little scratch on his leg, he's be o the ground crying like he got shot. I can see it now.

as a SOX fan, I have mixed emotions...

if you recall, Manny didn't play last year, so I can't bea hypocrite, but A-Rod has an injury and although he might not play, he says he will still go in appreciation of the 2.5 million people that voted him in...

Big papi on the other hand has a nagging injury, yet says he will play because "the fans voted me in and I will NOT dissappoint all the people that voted for me..."

I'm a Yankee fan and A-Rod rooter...I'd like to see him rest that hamstring and save himself for the race to the playoffs.
