In other words, do they hover over you?

My mom used to, although my dad was pretty cool about giving people their own space (before he passed, about 17 years ago). The good news for you, kiddo is this. Someday you get to hover right back! You know... Drive them crazy with questions about their bowel movements and did they take their Geritol today and geriatrically fun stuff like that. But then again.. some of them actually like those kinds of questions so you might want to think about taking them wind-surfing or something else, instead. You could even let them bring their walkers along on the ride. Parents that hover just love being involved as it makes them think that they can actually control what you're doing with your life. Some illusions never die.

Yes, my beloved parents did hover over me, when I was growing up. It was a safe and warm environment. I did also with my children, and my daughter will with her kids.
It is life, good parents take care of their kids. Sometimes too much, but who's to say, better some than nothing at all.

yes my mother does hover over me - but i appreciate it ... because i lost my father at a young age - so i appreciate just being able to TALK to my mother ... and if she feels like calling me 100 times a day -- im fine with that.

Yes, they do. Or I should say, they used to when I lived with them.

Only when they were administering a beating. Other times they ignored me.

No, they pretty much let me live my life. But we do keep in touch & we see each other whenever we can.
