I have been given a conditional offer from nottingham trent university. i need 240 points. at the moment i have 230 a grade c in english, however i am retaking a module so it could go to a b. i have another c and a c in sociology AS. I also have a d in general studies. I am on a gap yr and was studying for my sociology A2. I dotn think that i did to well in the 2nd exam ( i had 3 overall) and i missed the last exam as my sister died and i was in such a state. at the moment i only have 230. do u think they will accept me? hopefully i will move up to a b in my english so i wont have to worry. i have spoken to them and they have jsut said wait till august. i am jsut so worried that i wont get in as i do not have a insurance choice. do u think i will get in if i dont move up in my english? please any thoughts would be helpful.

I think it would be very stupid of them not to take you - its obvious you have been in a terrible circumstance, and 10 points isn't that much at all! I just wanted to add that if they do say no its not the end of the world. I was literally 4 exam marks away from meeting my UCAS point criteria and the uni i wanted to go to said no to me. I didnt have an insurance offer either. But i rang through to a couple of unis through clearning and found a place at a uni not too far (where I went on to get a first so :P to the first uni!). lol

Good luck sweety!

What did you do in the gap? If I were the examiners, your answer to that would be critical. Depending upon your use of that 12 months, I would allow you into my uni, or not. If you squandered it away with frivolous and inadequate stuff - "go elsewhere", if you did volunteering and overseas missions stuff (say) then I would invite you to my uni.

Grades and marks are only evidence of one thing - rote memory and swotting. Life is MORE than that.

Be blessed.

Talk to them at the uni as the mitigating circs might well swing you a place.
Am sorry about your sister, I do know how hard it is, but I am sure she would have wanted you to get on well in your life.

You need to discuss if they will accept you with mitigating circumstances (ieyour sister dying). Sorry for your loss but talk to them and see what can be done.
