The war in Iraq was based on lies and misinformation that has been proven by leaks from our allies and others in our intelligence agencies. Many of the candidates for President voted for the war without reading any of the documents that might have raised a red flag. Kinda like the herd movement when spooked. Hitler used similiar tactics in the 30's.

The war in Iraq was not based on lies and misinformation, no matter how many time you repeat the propaganda. No one lied about anything. The intelligence information was probably correct at the time it was gathered and the weapons were most likely moved out of Iraq.

I hope any president never takes the U.S. to war unnecessarily. On the other hand, I hope no president hesitates to take the U.S. to war when war is necessary.

Both would be grievous errors.

Ugh, it kills me that people think Iraq has anything to do with Islamic fundamentalism. Iraq was actually pretty secular under Saddam. Brutal dictator, but not an Islamist. Morons.

Anyway, in my opinion we need diplomacy and a lot more humanitarian type aid. The thing of it is, the Arab states that are moderate are the wealthy ones whose citizens like their creature comforts. Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, their citizens have freedoms to enjoy and things like power, running water, computers, the internet, that would crumble under an Islamist regime. Look at Iran, Afghanistan under the Taliban. Those places are the armpit of the world. If I lived there, and was told from birth that the Great Satan was the reason I was living in squalor and the filthy I might want to blow myself up too. Hell, just listening to a G Dub speech makes me want to kill myself.

It may be a pessimistic view of humanity, but I think when people are fat and happy and have distractions, they're less likely to harbor this extremism we see today. I think having more than one source of information is also a component of that.

What will any of the presidential candidates do? I don't know. Reaching out to the Muslim world would be a good start. Stop dealing in this us and them mentality. This isn't the cold war. We're fighting an idea, not a nation. How do you prove that you're idea is better? I don't know. I do know that invading a country and disenfranchising their people doesn't help our cause much.

Lead us into another war ... or prolong the current war. I do believe that the current war in Iraq will still be going full force even after the next presidential election.

Offer Osama bin Laden terms of surrender? Pay him a war debt? Instigate a coup here in the U.S. and enact sharia law? Join the multilateral coalition against Israel?
Short of that, a@#hole, I doubt we can expect much slack from the Islamic fundamentalist front.
STOP HITLARY NOW!!!

Ron Paul didn't vote for the war, and he's running on the right. But, politicians have their empty promises, so who knows what they'll do?

No Hitler had his enemies killed, Banned Jews from society and later gassed them, and Started invaded every country brodering Germany for more "living room". Not similar at all.
