We love the Travel Channel. I have done a lot of work for several of the shows and I can say that it is the best! If it opens your mind to the possibilities of travel, then it is successful.
When I taught Travel and Tourism, The Travel Channel was homework!
Great way to explore the world from the comfort of your armchair.
I am glad to hear that you love it too! Keep on watching!!! Don't say never because you just might get there someday.
Oh and to the guy that is upset about the Lady Luck and your contention of alledged payoffs to be named The Luckiest Casino, most of the hotels, airlines, cruise lines and destinations pay a "promotional fee" that assists in the cost of the production. That can be in the form of free transportation or an actual cash payment. Sometimes sponsorship is hard to come by and it is the name of the game. Please do not judge the entire Travel channel by that particular situation. Besides, I use to win at the Lady Luck a lot!
Keep on watching!!! It's a big wonderful world out there and the Travel Channel makes it just a little smaller!

I too love the Travel Channel and get ideas all the time of places I want to visit. Until a year ago I could never afford to travel to those places. I discovered a secret travel agents don't want you to know. There are always vacancies on cruise ships, in hotels and resorts and they will practically give the rooms away just to get you on their property. Try www.timelessgetaways.com - great wholesale travel company.

I do, I do ...
Often times, I do it for reasons you mentioned above, but also for future travel destinations. I recently caught a special on Belize and it never occured to me to visit there, however after seeing what I did, it put the thought there.
But do love living vicariously through the tv as well! :)

I watch it sometimes. You're right; it is a great way to see places that I may never get to visit. I sure hope I get to go to some of those vacation spots someday, though. I just need to save my pennies. :)

Yes, but it's not an unbiased source.
For example, when they named "Lady Luck Casino" in Las Vegas as "The luckiest casino," they did so because the Lady Luck Casino paid the producers of the show to portray it as such. (It's so "lucky" that it's now closed and being converted into condos).
I do enjoy the travel channel, but it's good to remember that you're getting biased information. Of course, you get biased info from nearly all media.
