Nope. I sent my daughter to private school to avoid having to deal with government schools. If her college experience thus far is any indication she was much better prepared that her government school educated counterparts.

It is not the government's job to educate my children. That is my responsibility.

The Tenth Amendment states that: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved for the States respectively, or to the people.

Nowhere in the constitution will you find education mentioned. It is the responsibility of the parents, not of the government.

Is learning to read and write education?
Turn civilization back 50,000 years for a moment. In the primative civilization, a child learns from the community that he or she must hunt to get food, build shelter and possibly how to construct that shelter, use animal skins for clothes, etc.
However, that child learns where the best hunting is, where to get the material to build shelter, and the art of tanning from his or her parents. The real education and preparation for life comes from functional parenting, not public educational systems. The government can only provide 1/2 of the needs in education. The rest comes from parenting.

My parents, my siblings and I , our children have all gone to public schools and have been successful. Education is not confined to school but in one's home as well. We learn from our friends, religious institutions, schools, and personal experiences. All of these contribute to our education for life in the world. If a good balance of fantasy and reality are part of our growing up we will be able to cope well with anything life throws at us.

I'm not really sure. I don't have children and I went to private schools up until college. I was well educated without the government.

Good question. Now ask the parents when was the last time they attended a PTA meeting or sat through a lesson in their child's classroom.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the parents the frontrunners for teaching their children and preparing them for the world?

Absolutely. The 'dumbing down of America', is creating a populous of PC driven people who think big government is wonderful. Yes, they're preparing them for the future and it's working. Let the mind control continue.

It's not the govenrment's job!

My child received an excellent education!
My child was raised in a good, Christian home!
My child has decency and strong morals.
My child has a superior work-ethic.
My child received a 'terrific' upbringing and so much more...AND...his father and I are liberal Democrats; imagine that!

Is he ready for the world?
Yes, hell yes!

Is the world ready for him?
Probably not!

no. kids pretty much know things by what they learn on tv. schools spend their time teaching a test, telling them what they should eat, and trying to make little boys into little girls. this is elementary school.

high school. they learn how to drive, have sex, get no true american history, boys are forced to read and understand womens studies that will prepare them for college that is dominated by liberals and feminazis.

just my opinion....ya ken?

In two years I'll start to see how it goes. I personally know of a handful of teachers and a select few have been given high praise by the city all the way down to the local level. (My wife is one of them!).
