President Bush, it is reasonable to assume, would like to be remembered as a hard-nosed wartime leader who made tough and unpopular, yet necessary, decisions to secure the United States against terrorism.

He will not deserve it -- and history is likely to record something quite different -- if he fails to secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws.

You are Correct. He has done nothing to Secure Our Borders, even though the Money was authorized, and is not being used.
I am getting the idea that he does not want the borders closed because he wants the Illegal Aliens to continue entering our Country.
BUT, along with the Illegal Aliens, are Criminals, Drug Smugglers, and Terrorists.
He even refuses to Pardon the two Border Guards who shot and wounded an Armed Drug Smuggler.
What Our President is doing, IT IS NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR COUNTRY!

Does anybody have a plan, that doesn't involve amnesty? You seem to forget that McCain and Kennedy crafted an amnesty bill, that Bush was eager to sign. You also seem to forget that Reagan, signed the last amnesty bill. Face it, the ruling parties will not lift a finger to slow illegal immigration. Democrats are too busy pandering to the Latin voting bloc. GOP is too busy pandering to the business voting bloc. They ain't going anywhere. You might as well start learning spanish. ¿Es usted un troll, o se trataba de una pregunta seria? And as far as the Constitution goes. It is quite irrelevant to modern America. Patriot Act S1867 HR645 We are no longer a free country. And it was a grand act of bi-partisanship.

Congress has already set aside money to work on more security in previous bills and the work isnt getting done. Something is wrong somewhere in between the presidents desk and the actual work and its his responsiblity to light a fire under people and see it through.

Definitely control the borders before getting aggressive about those already in the country. You don't mop up the floor from a leaky pipe until you fix the pipe.

A nation has to control it's borders (know who comes in).

Bush is too light on illegal immigration. He looks liberal and rather scary on the issue.
