It should be husband and wife, since kids grow up and move away.
But in this age of disposable marriages, things don't go the way they were intended.
When things get rough, people get divorced.
When that happens, the mother's bonds with their children grow stronger.

I think the most intimate relationship is shared between a husband and his wife. They share things with each other that mother and child will never share. The relationship between a mother and child is intimate on another level. But, a husband and wife have a certain closeness because the two have become one. It doesn't get more intimate than that.

I think relationships are always growing and evolving. As a young child, my most intimate relationship was with my mother. As I grew older, I was more intimate with my friends. Now that I'm married, I am definitely most intimate with my husband. All of these relationships are important, but they are varying degrees of important at different stages in life.

I think mother and child. Husband and wife sounds intimate but it never lasted. To become a mother is the greatest gift of all, you will feel this soul inside you move, it will give you pleasure on how this child will grow when the times comes. And having a child makes your heart fonder. friends will always be there, you can loose them but you can find them as well no matter where you go.........

All of these are life-long commitments. I feel that you raise your children then they leave home and you have your husband still there. You love your kids just the same but in different ways. It's a different form of love, but so strong. Your friends should be for life as well, but less important than your husband and kids. What I'm saying is, they are all intimate relationships, but it's what you put first in your life that matters and makes a difference.

The one I feel the most would be mother/child. You will always be there for each other. That is your own flesh and blood, your inner reason for living. That love can never ever change. A husband/wife situation- they could end in divorice... and friends could leave you for others.

The three can all be intimate to the same degree, because they are all very different types of relationships.

For me, nothing is quite like mine and my childrens relationship. I'd love to say its the spouse b/c when the kids are up and gone and have their own life, I'm at home alone with him so I better like it, but right now my focus is on my kids and I'll deal with the spouse later.

I have never had a bond stronger than that between my children and I. There is nothing stronger than a bond between a mother and her child.
