I just saw Transformers, and I won't have any spoiler, but the only autobot who sounds black, is the ONLY one of the good guyd killed.

Why does this keep happening?? I was taught not to jum too much when something like this happens. I just can't help but think hollywood hasn't equalized with race the way the rest of the country seems to have.

I did find this link, and I see I am not alon, and this isn;t an isolated thing: www.feoamante.com/Movies/Racial/racial_cliches.html

Now if you have whites in the majority of the cast or, asian, black or whatever, kill one of them. If there is only one of the race, or even type of person, I for one am thinking you're hiding something.

I will say this bluntly. Some of these white directors are closet racists, and use their medium to do their evil.

Before anyone accusses me of anything, I an 1/2 white, and 1/2 black. Majority of my friends are white, and my fiancée is white. She also has an isue with that.

For a long time, you couldn't say anything bad about black people in the movies, they all to be so nice. The were trying to make up for the news, which always showed black people in a bad light. Today, the movies are trying to show some equality these days and make up for the nonsense of the past generation.

I don't think you're racist any more than I think the hollywood directors who make these films (most of them anyway) are actually racist, meaning they hate one race or the other. I think being preferential to whites because you are white yourself is human nature and not necessarily hatred which is how I define racism. I think too many people of color in this country assume hatred and malice where it may not actually exist. There is a big difference in preference vs racism. I am white, and I have always dated white women, not because I have anything against other races, I actually do like hispanic women, and other non whites, but I have never been attracted to black women or asian women for that matter. Does that make me racist? I don't think so.

I think the fact that blacks tend to be the most likely to be killed when they are a non-leading actor in a film is more related to the fact that they aren't the leading actor. In a Wesley Snipes movie, or a Samuel L Jackson movie, that's not the case. Look at the Matrix, three whites and a hispanic were all killed from the main cast in the first film and the main black actor, Lawrence Fishburn, who had a supportive role, was key to the plot so he survived. Both directors mind you were white. I think it really is dependent on the script and the plot that determine who is expendible and who isn't.

If you've seen the Movie EVOLUTION with David Duchovny and Orlando Jones you'd get a kick out of the one scene when David Duchovny tells Orlando Jones to go into a dark tunnel and flush out the monster...Orlando, in his typical sarcastic way, says "you think I don't realize the stigma of a the black "sidekick" ? or something to that effect. It was a funny poke at Hollywood and the point you were making. Obviously, Orlando makes it through the film and survives. Afterall, it was a comedy.

Do you always watch movies looking for hints fo racism? I'd think that would take all the fun out of a movie. Transformers is fantasy. I find it odd that you even find racism in movies like the Transformers to which you attach "sound black" to. I suggest you relax and have fun at these fantasy movies rather than get yourself worked up into a huff. If you're goal is to find the bogeyman, then you will find him.

I work with a few guys who travel here and back from India. They made an amazing statement to me last week. (Amazing in light of what I'm reading here) They said that in all of their travels, there has not been a place in the world where people are more accepted for who they are, than in America. I even tried to bring up other places that are said to be more tolerant. They disagreed. I guess it depends on what you have been taught that affects your viewpoint. Now I'm not saying this is Utopia but relatively speaking, maybe you aren't going to get any closer than this.

Im gonna go w/ ur second paragraph about the country seemingly has caught up with equality.
The USA still hasnt caught up to it. I see everyday racisism on TV, the radio, etc. & since the 60's movement on civil rts. Americans still dont get it.
I know its a little better, but lately scences of viloence has upped to double the amt. I trip out cause Hollywood grabs these idea, enhance it, and pick on minorities(like u said) to die off 1st.Isnt our most famous stars(the percentage) are white? Aren't the highest percentage of white stars making the most money? The only way i see a change is when more minorties become more involve in Hollywood, making their own productions, own actors/actresses, etc, and if ya like, kill off the white star 1st! Or, make gr8 movies, and show that quality that minorities have in making excellent movies.
But dat's my opinion.

People spouting off about racial issues are usually the most racist! It's just the way things happen in the movies...the story is written and then the actors are selected to read the parts...it has nothing to do with race. Grow up! Why should the white race be crucified hundreds of years AFTER their relatives did something?

first of all, how do you sound black? I also saw the movie, and from my understanding it was not racist or suspect. I think your reading into it too much.

why don't you answer me this, why are there movies where the majority of the characters are black, but the topic or plot of the movies only involve relationships (brown sugar, tyler perry series) instead of action, horror and the other sort?

Califlower- on Family Guy, the man who voices cleveland the only black man on the cartoon is played by a white man!

U r soooo right! It is like a formula they teach in film school... a group of 5 or 6 good guys and the non-white will always be the first to die.

PS for Jahspon there are definate timbers to "black" voices - watch dubbed movies & you'll notice it too.

while human beings not pay to work out the flicks, until eventually then not something will substitute. Dont like it, shelter it, dont pay to work out their video clips. Btw, video clips are actually not in basic terms made for the u . s . a ., a extensive quantity of money is made in foreign places markets. plenty greater money is made merchandising a action picture in numerous ecu international places quite then attempting to industry a action picture in shall we are saying, Kenya once you're taking all that into consideration and the break down of the paying consumers, its would desire to be a no-brainer why Hollywood pushes video clips out the way they do.

he sounded black you say... well, so did (and does) mr. Rick Ashley and he's white.....

But on the whole, don't think you have to jump to the conclusion it's done 'on purpose' unless you can ask the castingdirector or senior director or producer if and why.

I think by 'jumping' like you express it, it only adds again to the whole misunderstandings and stereotype ways people seem to think.
