It isn't unlucky, it meant sixes and sevens (6 + 7 = 13).
As it is sixes and sevens it means unlucky for some,
though I think all numbers and unlucky for some.
6 and 666 is the number of hell and satan in christianity.
7 and 777 is the number of heaven and god in many
religions.
6 and 666 is claimed unlucky from the fact it was
claimed by satan (randomly apparently by the
writer to make it interesting in the bible, if you
are atheist).
7 and 777 is claimed lucky from the fact it was
claimed by god (randomly apparently by the
writer to make it interesting in the bible, if you
are atheist and many other religions).
Friday the 13th is different though, it is just
a number (like any other).
Paraskavedekatriaphobia or
friggatriskaidekaphobia is the fear of
friday the 13th, the fear of number 13
is called triskaidekaphobia.
No historical date has been verifiably identified as the origin of the superstition. Before the 20th century, although there is evidence that the number 13 was considered unlucky, and Friday was considered unlucky, there was no link between them. The first documented mention of a "Friday the 13th" is generally listed as occurring in the early 1900s.
However, many popular stories exist about the origin of the concept:
The popular painting of the Last Supper, with stories that Judas numbered among the thirteen guests (Jesus plus his 12 apostles), and that the Crucifixion of Jesus occurred Friday. However, Judas was not actually present for the latter part of the Last Supper according to the Bible Canon because he had left in order to bring Jesus' betrayal to a conclusion later that night (John 13:27-30 and previous context). Therefore, for the majority of The Last Supper, there were only 11 faithful apostles along with Jesus making the total number of those present 12.
That the biblical Eve offered the fruit to Adam on a Friday, and that the slaying of Abel happened on a Friday (though the Bible does not identify the days of the week when these events occurred).
Friday 13th October 1066 was the last day of the reign of the Saxon King Harold II. On this day, William, Duke of Normandy offered Harold the option of ceding the crown; Harold declined the offer. The Battle of Hastings took place the following day (Saturday 14th October 1066). Harold was slain and William took control of England.
Friday The 13th also marked the day the the King of France Ordered French troops to go out and Detain all of the Knights of the Templar Order all over France
Many modern stories (including The Da Vinci Code) claim that when King Philip IV had many Knights Templar simultaneously arrested on Friday, October 13, 1307, that started the legend of the unlucky Friday the 13th.
Friday and 13 were both sacred to the Norse goddess Freyja, so Friday 13th was especially sacred. Christians who wished to suppress her worship said the day was unlucky.

There are a few reasons why the number 13 is considered unlucky, but the most popular one I believe is the story of the Last Supper. There were 13 at the table, Jesus and his 12 apostles.
They don't put a 13th floor in buildings because so many people are superstitious.

I think that it originates from Friday the 13th being "unlucky". On a Friday the 13th a massive conspiracy was carried out (involving even the Pope) in which there was a mass eradication of the Knights Templar (AD 1312).
Interesting historical story - check this out if you're interested: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14493a.htm
And as for the 13th floor - I've never noticed that ! Weird how rooted our cultures are in superstition...

No one knows for sure, but it predates anything to do with Christianity, although Christianity carries on the tradition (last supper).
The code of Hamurrabi, the earliest known code of law (18th century BC) omits number 13 in its codes because it was considered unlucky even that far back in history.

I seem to remember the original proverb was, "Number 13, unlucky for some." Somehow this got turned into," unlucky for everybody." Where the proverb came from in the first place is beyond me.

They are in the 'bloom of youth' as the Bible says. Which basically means they are horny and so feel they are old enough to have a gf or bf.... They should wait till they are old enough that they are thinking with their head and not other things (if you know what I mean)

yeah, they say 13 is actually lucky for Sagittariuses like me... well, as for WHY thirteen, i'm not exactly sure...but they don't make 13th floors because of experience; buildings with thirteenth floors get severely bad luck, probably even haunted
